Goal: Discern Responsibilities

[Today in Christian Radio] June Hunt reminded us that God calls us to help others with burdens that are too heavy to carry alone, but we are not called “to relieve others of their own rightful responsibilities.” Christianity is a combination of accepting our own responsibilities, helping others, and giving our cares to God. Burdens can come in the form of financial, emotional, spiritual, as well as others. It can take some serious discernment to know when and who should carry what burden. Some of us end up carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders while others never fully mature because of their dependency on others. Dear Father, I pray You would help us to discern responsibilities. You have many people so we should never overwhelm ourselves with burdens or take the place of God in someone’s life. Help us to the burdens we are not called to carry at the cross because You said our yoke is easy and our burden is light. In Christ’s Name, Amen.
