Goal: Be an “extension of the arms of God.” This profound thought comes from June Hunt. The challenge includes listening, loving, and comforting those who are emotionally distraught because of a difficult situation. As a society, we place such a focus on saying the right words when our words carry such little importance. Our role and focus needs to be to listen, love, and comfort the hurting. When my father passed away, no words could have comforted me. However, people who sat with me and listened to me or reached out to me with a sentimental gift or card did bring me great comfort.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Supernaturally enable us to be the gentle healing hands of Christ. Guide us to listen, love, and comfort the weak, grieving, and emotionally wounded people in our families and communities. Remove our focus from ourselves and our words and place it on the people on whom we should show compassion. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. In Christ’s Name, Amen.
⇒Although this blog has generalized this goal, June Hunt was specifically speaking into a situation where an abortion had occurred.
